Welcome to the Electric Car Weblog. In addition to links, news, and tips about electric cars and other forms of alternative transportation we are publishing an on-line diary of our current EV project. Started in August 2005 the chronicle follows the conversion of a gas powered Ford Probe into an Electric Car.

You will find articles organized by categories, along with recent comments, along the right hand column of the website. If you are just getting started with the idea of converting a gas car to electric be sure to check out Your First Electric Car .

Welcome and enjoy!

Controller and Electronics front view

Sitting in my overflowed mail queue from this summer and fall (resend emails if I haven’t answered yet) was a few nice in-progress shots of Joe Porcelli’s 280Z electric conversion.

Separated at Birth · 31 May 06

Separated at birth?

Over the weekend I tore the rest of the fiberglass and odd parts off of Atom and took a few pictures for posterity.

I was cruising the internet the other day and ran across a cool video and pictures of a little sports car. On further consideration, and with my eyes crossed just so, I thought maybe this was what Atom was originally intended to be?

Eve, the video · 15 May 06

Eve, the video

It was a weekend of non-stop rain here in New Hampshire, with over three inches falling Saturday and Sunday (southern parts of the state had up to 15”!). Thought about trying to make it to the Tour de Sol but the rainy weather and desire to get some more work done on Eve won over.

Enjoy!

Not making an EV this time, but creating a tool for all of the folks who have made or are thinking of making their own electric car, bike, scooter, boat, lawnmower, tractor, and, hey, maybe even an electric airplane.

It’s the new EVAlbum:

I get an email from time to time which goes like…

Why don’t you add a lawnmower/weedwhacker/gas engine to your EV? Wouldn’t that help the range?

Well, yeah, it might…but it wouldn’t be an EV! And, hey, who said I needed more range? ‘:^)

Still, it’s a common enough question that we ought to talk about it a bit.

But first, an answer to the other emails: NO, I HAVEN’T DIED!

Time for something a little different.

Lee Hart has been a regular on the EVList, helping folks out with their electric car questions for years. Lee has even shared his design for an EV battery balancer with us.

Lee’s converted a few electric cars but he also does another type of EV conversion: converting songs, poems, and fables to be electric powered.

Today we head back to the 60’s for a little ditty I’m sure y’all remember…
